Are K-Source Towing Mirrors Wide Enough for a Pontoon Boat?

Updated 09/11/2026 | Published 09/03/2026

Question:

Hi! Im looking at K-Source Universal Towing Mirrors - Clip On - Convex Mirror - Qty 2 Part Number: KS3891-2 which is supposed to fit my 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500. I am towing an 8.5 wide pontoon boat. With the factory mirrors I get a nice view of the front of the boat! Are these wide enough to work with a boat that wide? Thanks! Darryl

Hey Darryl!

Yes, the K-Source Universal Towing Mirrors # KS3891-2 would be a good option for your 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 and your 8-1/2' wide pontoon boat. Each towing mirror has a 7-3/4" tall x 5-1/8" wide convex mirror face, so it gives you a much wider field of view than your factory mirrors alone.

I can't guarantee you'll be able to see completely down both sides of an 8-1/2' wide boat since that will also depend on how far your factory mirrors stick out and how the boat sits on the trailer, but these should be a noticeable improvement over the nice view of the front of your pontoon you're getting now.

If you tow the boat regularly and want the most visibility possible, I'd actually lean toward the K-Source Custom Extendable Towing Mirrors # KS62147-48G instead. These replace the factory mirrors and telescope outward, which is going to give you considerably more reach for a wide pontoon boat.

Do your current Silverado mirrors have power adjustment and heat?

We have a 2016 Tacoma that we used to pull a 8 foot wide camping trailer which is close to 30 feet long. These are considerably better than the stock mirrors. However, I would say they are more in the class of “just better to just good enough” than they are “great or excellent.” Don’t get me wrong – I’m not knocking them and they are far better than just using the stock mirrors but a solution that gives you a wide view would be much better.

@Guy Thanks for your honest feedback. Based on my experience, I'd definitely agree with you. The # KS3891-2 are good for occasional towing, but I wouldn't consider them the end-all-be-all solution. For any full-timers, I recommend going with the full factory replacement.

I used those mirrors on a 2017 gmc Acadia. They fit tight and unlike all the other mirrors I’ve used, even ones that are custom fit, they did not vibrate. I was shocked.

@JamesO That's awesome. I'm glad they exceeded your expectations. What kind of setup do you have with your Acadia?
