Accessing the Screws on Ventline Round Vent to Replace the Handle

Updated 07/29/2014 | Published 07/26/2014

Question:

I can not expose the two screws as both up are still up within the ceiling even after the garnish and extension are removed. I have tried an offset screwdriver, but the ones I have seen and tried are too wide to fit between the screw and roof of the shower stall. I would hate to have to remove the whole unit from the outside roof.

I believe that the only way to go about this, if you cannot get a tool in that space, is to do exactly like you said and go in from the outside.

If you do not have the handle pulled all the way down, that could be the problem as well. I would assume that in the process of working on the vent you have pushed, pulled, and turned things but it doesn't hurt just to check to see if it could move down any more.
