Hey Gary!

Sorry you're having trouble with the wiring harness. Since the left running light works normally again as soon as you disconnect the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56331, that helps narrow the issue down to the harness or one of its connections.

I would start by disconnecting the T-connectors and checking the plugs and terminals on the driver's side. Make sure none of the pins are bent, pushed back into the connector, damaged, or making poor contact. Then reconnect everything firmly and verify that the harness ground is attached to clean, bare metal.

If the connections look good, use a circuit tester like the Performance Tool Circuit Tester # PT72PJ to check the wiring going into and coming out of the converter box. With the running lights turned on, you should have a signal entering the converter for the tail/running-light circuit and a corresponding signal coming out to the 4-way.

If the correct signal is going into the converter but not coming out properly, or the vehicle's left running light stops working whenever the harness is connected, that would point to a problem with the harness or converter box itself.

Did the left running light stop working immediately after installing the harness, even with no trailer conncted to the 4-way?

It sounds like the running lights on the trailer? Does everything work on the van when you plug a test light into the 4 prong? There is a little test thing you can just by and plug directly into your 4 prong on the van that lights up. Start with that first.

@MikeD That makes sense. Thanks for your feedback. We actually just did some wiring trainings here a few weeks ago and had the same issue with a powder coated coupler. We ended up having to use a wire brush to clear down to the bare metal for a proper ground.
