Hello Nick,
Thanks for finally finding a reason to write in to us!
I am pretty sure I figured out what the issue is. You recently ordered the Roadmaster Nighthawk All-Terrain Tow Bar w/ LED Lights - Non-Binding - RV Mount - 8,000 lbs # RM-676, but I see that back in 2020 you ordered the Adapter for Jeep D-Ring Bumper Mounts to Roadmaster Motor Home Mount Tow Bars - 1" Thick # RM-035-1.
Do you still have the same Jeep with the same bumper? If so, you will need to transfer the # RM-035-1 over to the new # RM-676. If you no longer have the # RM-035-1, you will need to purchase a new set so you can hook up to your 1" D-rings. I attached an image for reference so you can see exactly what it looks like when everything is hooked up.
Getting things geared up for one final summer adventure? Where are you headed next?

Not sure what the issue is, sounds like a different bumper or jeep; however, I have always been a bit leery of using the bumper D-rings for towing. If you check behind the bumper you will find the only thing connecting the bumper to the jeep frame are two accordion-like sheet metal devices. It’s due to safety standards and crash absorbing bumpers. It seems a lot to ask of these devices to tolerate the constant tugging a pulling of the tow bar. Testimonials on the Jeep forum and other sources seem to bear this out with stories of jeeps being separated from the tow vehicle due to failure of these devices over the long term. A better solution might be a tow plate designed to fit your jeep. These plates bolt directly to the jeep frame thru already existing holes in the frame behind those accordion devices. If interested, I am sure e-trailer can help with fitment of Roadmaster, Curt, or other tow plates for your jeep. BTW excellent choice in the Roadmaster Nighthawk. I’ve had mine for a couple of years and several thousand miles of towing my JK behind my RV. Best wishes and keep on truckin’ or better yet, Jeepin’
