What Is the Best Replacement A/C System for a 2004 Fleetwood Pace Arrow with a Coleman ECC?

Updated 08/04/2026 | Published 07/30/2026

Question:

I have a failed coleman Mach A/C unit on the front of my fleetwood 2004 Pace Arrow with a 37c workhorse chassis. I cannot get the cover off the top to find an exact model number, but it is a MACH. But my rig uses an ECC controller for controls. My controller is setting on top of my duct work. It has a part number of 8330-752. I have a plastic connector that is capable of what looks like 9 wire holes, but not all holes have wire. This is a cooling unit only. Do you have a recommended replacement A/C unit for this ugly situation?

Hello James,

Thanks for writing in! I am sorry to hear your AC decided it was time to finally quite working, and in the warmest part of summer, how rude!

Since your 2004 Fleetwood Pace Arrow uses the older Coleman Mach ECC control system with the 8330-752 controller, I recommend replacing the entire front air conditioning system instead of just the rooftop unit.

Your existing system uses the older R-410A platform, while the new Coleman-Mach units use R-32 refrigerant and a different control system. Because of that, the new rooftop unit is not compatible with your existing ECC controller or thermostat. Replacing the complete system ensures all of the components are designed to work together.

I recommend the Mach-C Everest Variable Speed RV Air Conditioner System - 18K Btu - Ducted/Non-Ducted - R32 - White # CM35MR (black # CM55MR). It is a complete cooling-only system that includes the rooftop air conditioner, air distribution box, and wall thermostat. It also features variable-speed operation for quieter, more consistent cooling and a built-in soft start to reduce startup power demand.

Getting things geared up for the next great adventure? Where are you headed to next?

Does this include a softstart?  Do I need one?  Would i leave the back ac unit wired into the ecc?  Does the kit included all wiring for the thermostat?  And finally is there an installation video you can share?

@James B The Mach-C Everest Variable Speed RV Air Conditioner System - 18K Btu - Ducted/Non-Ducted - R32 - White # CM35MR does not require a separate soft start. Its variable speed, inverter-driven compressor ramps up gradually instead of drawing the large startup surge of a traditional RV air conditioner, so there is no need to add one. If your rear air conditioner is currently controlled by your Energy Control Center (ECC), you would typically leave it connected to the ECC. The # CM35MR operates independently, so the rear A/C can continue to function through the existing system. Yes, the # CM35MR includes the components needed to connect the included thermostat, so you will not need to purchase additional thermostat wiring for a standard installation. At this time, we do not have an installation video available for the # CM35MR, but I'd be happy to help answer any installation questions that come up during the process.
