Question:
For my curt trailer on 03 forester I got only the bolt and nut: Weve got a 7/16 bolt and well add a 7/16 flat washer. Well take the bolt and flat washer, its gonna go through the metal collar of the exhaust hanger and then through the hitch. On the hitch side, well add another 7/16 flat washer then a 7/16 lock washer and a 7/16 nut. I didnt get either lock washers when the hitch arrived, is this why the nut keeps vibrating off? Ive lost two, is locktite or epoxy the next option?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Curt Trailer hitch # C12038 does not include lock washers. So it wasn't that you didn't get them it is that the hitch doesn't come with them. Using Loctite would be a great idea. Blue Loctite is should be all you need, # LT37614. Because the red Loctite is pretty much permanent. So should the hitch need to be removed for any reason, it would take pneumatic tools if you used red Loctite.
Also, make sure the bolts are torqued to the specifications in the instructions. If they are too loose then you can end up losing them. Too tight and you can damage the hitch or vehicle. A torque wrench is definitely required for the proper torque if you aren't already using one.
