What is Amperage Draw of Furrion and GE Profile 10 Cubic Foot RV Fridges

It looks like this model draws a significantly higher Amp hr rating then the Furition 12v. 10.7 inch fridge, is that true? Also, as I consider replacing my 2021 Norcold Polar propane/120v fridge, I have a question about wiring. Some say wire straight from battery. Why wouldn’t I want to connect it to my main panel? If I have shore power I would think I would want to power this from my converter and not a constant draw from my battery???

Hey Mark, the max amperage draw of the Furrion RV Refrigerator # FR86NF and the GE Profile RV Fridge part # GE78FR are different but not by a ton. The max amperage draw for the Furrion is 12 amps and the GE is 17.5. This is only right at start up when the compressor kicks on.
If you run this to your battery it will be able to be on at all times with or without a shore power connection. If you run it to the panel the 12 volt circuits would only be active if connected to shore power so that would limit when it could be used. It really depends on if you'd need to to be able to be used when disconnected from shore power. Your converter will still charge the battery when it is connected to shore power though. Do you ever off grid camp? If no, the panel would be fine.

Thanks for your help. Yeah I do about boondocking power and half shore power. All of my 12 volt is available whether I’m hooked into shore power or not i.e. the lights the fans, etc. so the same would be true of this refrigerator. Whether it’s hooked into the circuit with fuses or directly to my battery and should still be available, so I don’t understand your point there. I think my question is do you hook it directly to the battery or do you hook it up to the panel like every other 12 V system on the trailer?. In terms of the power consumption, I was looking at the normal rates of consumption not the peak time and it seemed like they’re still a big difference. Do you have any numbers for what you think than normal consumption is for each of those refrigerators?
