What is the Toque Specifications for the 1/2” Stainless Steel DeeMaxx Bolt?
Updated 06/30/2026 | Published 06/25/2026 >
Question:
I just purchased the DeeMaxx disc brakes for my 2024 Brinkley Z3400. I have been getting conflicting info fro both etrailer and DeeMaxx. I also purchased the 1/2” Stainless Steel bolt and Stainless Steel nylock nut to install the caliper mounting bracket to my Lippert 8000 lb axle flange. I need to know what to torque the stainless steel bolt and nylock nut to, without anti seize. No one can give me a set number. Some say 70 and some 45. What is the correct torque spec when using the DeeMaxx stainlessess steel bolt and nylock nut? Without anti-seize? I don’t want to over or under torque. The answers that I have been receiving is that the Stainless steel bolt and nut can not handle the torque that Etrailer and DeeMaxx have given me. I just need the correct dry torque for this axle without anti-seize to be safe and not have the bolt to back out. Thank you.

Hello Will,
I love when I pull a question and we actually have the manufacturer in-house for training!
I can finally put this one to rest because etrailer and DeeMaxx are on the same page. The correct torque spec for the 1/2-inch stainless steel bolt and stainless steel nylock nut when installing the Replacement DeeMaxx Disc Brake Caliper - Maxx Coating - 7,000 lbs to 8,000 lbs # DE48VR is 40 to 45 ft-lbs.
The reason it's lower is because you're using stainless steel hardware. DeeMaxx also recommended not using power tools during installation. Stainless steel can generate heat from friction during installation, which can damage the threads or the fastener itself. They recommend installing the hardware with hand tools and then torquing it to 40 to 45 ft-lbs with a torque wrench.
I am sorry for the delay in getting an answer, busy season for the towing world is in full force. Where are you headed for the first trip with the new brakes? With how much the Brinkley's are, you would think they would come with the disc brakes already.
