Will Gen-Y Gooseneck Pin Box Void Warranty On 2025 Grand Design Momentum 344M

Updated 06/16/2026 | Published 06/12/2026

Question:

I’m considering upgrading to a Gen Y Executive 5th wheel to Goose neck pin box but I’m concerned about the 5 year warranty on my 2025 GD 344M Momentum. Can you offer any guidance? Thanks, Phil

Hey Phil! Adding the Gen-Y Gooseneck Pin Box like # GY48GR to your Momentum technically doesn't void the warranty. However, you might have a hard time fighting that with Lippert or Grand Design if you ran into an issue. The best guidance I can offer is from Gen-Y, and you can also count on them taking full responsibility if their pin box caused frame failure. See the attached photos.

Do you have a Lippert Turning Point on their now? If you do, the # GY48GR will fit but it is actually underrated for your GVWR (designed for 7,275-16,360 lbs GVWR) so you would need a different option like the Shocker # SHK69YR. Gen-Y currently doesn't offer a 6.5k TW model for the Turning Point which is what you would need for your Momentum.

If you have a different pin box bolt pattern let me know in the comments below and I can help you identify the right pin box. If you aren't sure, I can help you identify it if you send me a picture of your pin box sticker.

Thank you for the guidance Robin. That documentation is reassuring. My 334M has a gvwr of 19k and my max pin weight ( based on trailer GVWR @ 20%) would be appx 3800#. The pin box bolt pattern is the Rhino version. Here’s the LCI part number: Item Number:2023137154 Which Gen Y Executive would the choice for this 344M? Thanks Phil!

@PhilH you're welcome! Since you have the Lippert Rhino you need # GY45GR. This 6.5k TW model is designed for a GVWR of 16,365-25450 lbs. The 20% or what was originally a 22% of GVWR calculation from Gen-Y for fitment is now outdated, and they strictly go by GVWR since the pin boxes were updated recently. You will also need safety chains # GY49GR to complete your setup.

My trailer was out of warranty Phil so I didn’t worry about that but reducing shock impact on the trailer tongue by the use of shock absorbers has to be less damaging to the trailer frame jumping on a scale is not the same as standing on the scale in comparison. It pulls great trailers kinda close to the bed rails on the 2024 truck.
