Recommended Hitch for a 2015 Subaru Outback

I have a 2015 Subaru Outback. I want to add a hitch and use it for a hitch mount bike rack. Will the Thule Helium Pro TH9043PRO work with the Curt rack C13410 on my 2015 Subaru Outback? Will the hitch pin location meet Thule requirement? Will the rack have proper clearance behind the bumper to be able to fold down and to keep bikes away from the vehicle? Thank You.

They sure will Jeff. The Curt Hitch item # C13410 is custom fit for your 2015 Subaru Outback. It has a 2" receiver that the Thule Helium Pro Bike Rack item # TH9043PRO will work with. There will not be any clearance issues related to the bumper and you will be able to fold the rack down to access the rear cargo area.
We actually tested this combo out together on a 2017 Outback and made a video that I attached below. This is the same generation as your 2015 so you'll get a great walkthrough of how the Helium Pro is going to work with your Outback.
As an alternative to the Curt item # C13410 hitch, I recommend our etrailer item # e42TR. The hitches are made in the same facility to the same specifications. Ours has a matte finish instead of the shiny glossy coating so it'll blend in beneath your Outback's trim better. It'll save you a few dollars too.

Hi. I put this Curt hitch on my 2018 outback. Personal id go with the other style Curt hitch that mounts to the frame under the car. This one mounts to the bulk head of the rear bumper. I went with this one because it was the easiest looking diy. On my Outback Subaru must have went with the cheapest nuts and bolts they could find. Because when I torqued them down every one of them rounded the heads off. I have installed several Curt receivers all have been the 2 in. And they have all mounted to the frame under the car with Curt provided nuts and bolts. I wish I could go back and do it differently with the other receiver mounting style. Also keep In mind the cars own tongue weight was well I think the specs for my car is like 250-300 lbs it’s in your owners manual. I have a wheelchair mount and with the wheelchair and the carrier I was over that weight limit and I had to purchase a different kind of carrier. Hope this helps some

Jeff, I installed one on my 2016 outback so I could haul a 5x8 UT trailer with a 4 wheeler ATV GVW of around 8-900 lbs. The manual said tow capacity is around 3k lbs. It has preformed perfectly. Not bad installing it, out of 8 bolts with nuts, 3 of the heads rounded off so had to buy a new tool set to finish. The instructions were pretty easy to follow, found a video on YT that showed how to get all the plastic trim off. I feel really confident pulling that load at 70mph like it wasn't even there, I have to keep looking in the rear view to make sure it is still there lol

We have road bikes, mountain bikes, and soon a gravel bike. Thank you very much for your prompt informative response. It allows me to go ahead with my order and get started. Can you tell me the distance of the hitch pin hole from the end of the 2” reciever part? The picture makes it look to be about 3”.
