Hi Thomas,
The etrailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98881 does not have a specific towing weight rating, and that's actually normal for hitch pin locks. They are designed to secure your ball mount or hitch accessory in the receiver, while the towing capacity is determined by the hitch, vehicle, ball mount, and other towing components in the system.
The # e98881 is designed for 2", 2-1/2", and 3" receivers that use a 5/8" hitch pin hole, so it is a good fit for your 2-1/2" receiver. As long as your towing equipment is properly matched and rated for your trailer, the lock itself is not considered the limiting factor.
Do you want this lock keyed alike with any of your other trailer or hitch locks to make things a little more convenient?

These hitch pin locks are awesome. I have had the same one in my truck for several years now. They do not get froze up or corroded to where you cannot get them apart. Comes apart easy every time.
