Can Two 2000W Inverters Be Tied Together In Parallel To Make A 4000W Inverter System?

Question:
If i already have a 2000 watt go pro pure sine inverter charger and have found it is not enough power when converting to ac can i add an additional 2000watt and pair them together or am i going to have to order a 3000 k or even go to a victron 12v /4000watt inverter for 50 amp service ?

Hey David, thanks for reaching out. If your current Go Power inverter/charger is not designed for parallel stacking, then no, you can’t just add another 2000 watt unit and tie them together. The AC outputs have to synchronize perfectly in phase and load sharing or the inverters will basically fight each other, and that’s how you end up smoking expensive electronics. Some high-end systems are built for that, but most RV inverter/chargers are not.
If you’ve already figured out the 2000 watt unit isn’t enough, I’d skip trying to band-aid the system and move straight into a properly sized single inverter setup. For most 50 amp RV applications, 3000 watts is kind of the realistic starting point, and if you’re trying to run bigger loads or more of the coach at once, something like a Victron 4000W is honestly a much better long-term setup. For that I recommend the following:
- Victron Quattro Pure Sine Wave Inverter Charger - 4,000 Watts - 100 Amps - 12V # VN75VR
What appliance are you wanting to keep powered the most? AC unit, microwave or coffee maker?
