Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator Adapter Not Working on 2008 Ford Super Duty Brake Controller
Updated 07/14/2014 | Published 07/13/2014 >
Question:
Truck is 08 Super Duty with factory controller. I have the Brake Rite EHB. I bought the proper adapter for the EOH system and there are 3 wires going into the Brake Rite. Black, blue and brown. There is the white wire coming from the back up battery to the circuit board also. I wired blue to blue white to white and now I get a message on the dash of the truck stating trailer wiring fault. I checked the 7 pin connection going from trailer and truck and that seems correct. I can hear the pump run when I apply the brakes but there is no braking action. Any ideas? Its a pretty brainless install.

First, make sure that the adapter #T48456000, is wired into the input wires on the BrakeRite EHB. White to white and blue to blue. The adapter is simulating the load of brake magnets so that the brake controller thinks there are just electric brakes on the trailer. I think the key here is where you have the white wire attached. Since these system ground in more than one place you may need to move the white wire to an alternate ground wire in the system.
The old way this was done was to hang an actual magnet or magnets on the trailer, wired in to the system but not actually attached to anything, just to trick the brake controller.
