It really depends on what your Andersen weight distribution hitch is currently doing for your setup. If you are mainly using the Andersen to help with rear sag and leveling the truck, then helper springs can sometimes reduce or even eliminate the need for the weight distribution portion. But if you are also relying on the Andersen for sway control and keeping the front axle planted and steering stable, then I would still recommend keeping the weight distribution hitch in place. A lot of customers actually end up using both together because the helper springs support the rear suspension while the Andersen continues handling weight transfer and sway control.
The nice thing is the two systems generally work together very well as long as you set them up correctly. Typically you would install and adjust the helper springs first so the truck sits where you want it under load, then fine tune the Andersen hitch afterward to restore proper front axle weight and trailer balance. That gives you a more stable and comfortable towing setup without overworking either system.
I completely understand wanting to simplify the setup without creating a situation where the truck feels light in the steering or starts getting pushed around by the trailer. What do you tow most, and what about your Andersen setup would you most like to simplify? Which Andersen system do you have?
