Will The Reese Underbed System RP37KR Create A Ford Factory Prep Package In A 2022 F-250?

Updated 05/19/2026 | Published 05/16/2026

Question:

I have 2022 Ford F250. RP37KR come with everything I need? Is this what ford uses for their OEM 5th wheel prep package?

Hi Derric!

The Under-Bed Rail and Installation Kit for Reese Elite Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP37KR is exactly what Ford would have put in you 2022 Ford F-250 from the factory. That said, there is an additional part (or parts) needed depending on if you have the factory welded inner frame brackets or not. I included a picture of what these look like to make identifying that part easier.

With: Under-Bed Rail Kit # RP37KR
30924 Reese Fifth Wheel Mounting Rail Adapter

Without: Under-Bed Rail Kit # RP37KR
30924 Reese Fifth Wheel Mounting Rail Adapter
30184 Inner Frame Brackets for Reese Elite Series Underbed Rail Kit

The problem lies with Reese's parent company, First Brands. They are having some "issues" as of late and I can't say if or when the 30924 or 30184 parts will be available again. We have been out of them for a while, but there might be some available elsewhere. They are not going to be easy to find though.

Can I ask why you are specifically wanting this underbed system? Do you already have a hitch that fits the Ford prep package?

No I’m actually looking at different options B&W turnover ball with B&W hitch. You have any suggestions without breaking the bank?

@Derric Gotcha. There are a couple other ways to do what you are wanting. First would be to get the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch w/ Custom Installation Kit - 30,000 lbs # BWGNRK1116. This is the custom fit part for your truck and will fit the 6-3/4 foot or 8 foot bed. Next you would need the hitch and you would use the B&W Companion Slider Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs # BWRVK3400 for the 6-3/4 foot bed or the B&W Companion Fixed Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs # BWRVK3500 for the 8 foot bed. B&W stuff is a bit more expensive, but it's also American made and built to last. They are who I tend to recommend the vast majority of the time. The other option would be to go with the Curt PowerHaul Double Lock Custom Underbed OEM-Style Gooseneck Trailer Hitch - 38,000 lbs # C44NQ. This would then be paired with the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter - Single Jaw - 21,000 lbs # DM8550045, but you would need to add the Curt 4" Offset Ball for Double-Lock Gooseneck Hitch # C602 if you have the 6-3/4 foot bed to get more turning clearance. This will be a bit less expensive than the B&W set up with the slider, but I would still go with the B&W. These are all American made as well, I just very much prefer their products. There are a few other ways to go about doing what you want that would cost less, but they are not nearly as reliable as these two options and I only recommend them for people that have no other choice.

That’s great information. I had a 2018 Duramax with OEM hitch prep with B&W Cmpanion slider and that thing was solid I’m pushing 60 now and had a quadruple bypass so I’m not as strong as I used to be. I like option 2 because it’s the lighter option right? I currently have a 2009 Big Horn 5th wheel with bedroom on the front of it. Do you foresee any issues for me if I choose to go with the 2nd option? Also, I may tow it 5X a year right now and if I ever decided to do it FT I would upgrade to a newer 5th wheel and add some things for comfort. Thanks for your input I really appreciate it I would have to drive an hour to get this kind of information.

@Derric The Companion hitches are definitely heavier than the Recon. The Recon is actually one of the lighter hitches on the market, so I think it's the one you will want. And looking at the three parts for the second option, I would actually still go with the B&W gooseneck hitch over the Curt. It's less expensive, so it will save you more money. I have a full set up for that below: Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter - 21,000 lbs # DM8550045 B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Kit - 30,000 lbs # BWGNRK1116 4" Offset Ball for B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Trailer Hitches # BWGNXA4085
