What is the 12V appliances terminal for on etrailer PWM Solar Charge Controller?

Updated 05/12/2026 | Published 05/10/2026

Question:

Happy Monday! Have fine etrailer parts and am finalizing wiring plan. Order 124625683 On the e42PR Solar Controller, there are two terminals on the right identified in the documentation as intended for Solar Appliances. Install Video etc. show only Panel and Battery Terminals being used. What is the Solar Appliances circuit intended for? I can break out circuits easily. Thanks !!! Robert

Hey Robert, glad to hear the project is coming together!

Great question on the etrailer PWM Solar Charge Controller # e42PR , those “Solar Appliance” aka 12V appliance terminals are essentially a load output from the controller.

They’re designed to power small 12V DC devices directly from the controller, rather than wiring those loads straight to the battery. They’re typically intended for lower-draw items like lights, small fans or USB chargers.

You’d only use the 12V Appliance output if you specifically want built-in low voltage protection for a small dedicated circuit.
