Question:
Will this hitch allow me enough space between car and rack for me to be able to open the rear hatch on my 2024 Rav 4 without hitting bicycle when paired with your HLY98RR tilt bicycle rack? I just want to ensure it provides enough clearance.

Hi John,
This is a really good question, and I’m glad you’re thinking about it before buying because hatch clearance is one of those things that can make or break the convenience of your setup.
The good news is yes, with the etrailer hitch part # e84ZV paired with the Hollywood Racks part # HLY98RR tilt bike rack, you can tilt the rack away and open the rear hatch on your 2024 RAV4 without the bikes making contact. We actually have a video of this setup on a RAV4, and it shows the hatch clearing when the rack is tilted down, which gives you that access you’re looking for.
The hitch itself sits fairly close to the vehicle, so most of the clearance comes from the design of the bike rack and how far it tilts away. In this case, the rack gives you enough space to get the hatch up, which is exactly what you want for grabbing gear without unloading bikes.
It’s still always a good idea to be mindful of handlebar position and bike size since those can vary a bit, but overall this is a combination that works well together for hatch access.
Where are you planning on riding?
