Recommended Brake Controller and Custom Fit Harness for a 2021 Toyota 4Runner w/ the Tow Package

I have a 2021 Toyota 4Runner Nightshade and am looking at the Redarc tow pro liberty brake controller w/harness. I want to plug it in via an existing electrical adaptor in the 4Runner. Someone told me I need a Curt 51362 adaptor in order to make it work right out of the box. Please advise. Thank you

Hey Michael, thanks for the information! The Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller w/ Custom Harness item # RED98CR comes with everything you'll need for your 2021 Toyota 4Runner. You will not need a Curt adapter.

The Redarc item # RED98CR includes the brake controller and a custom fit wiring harness. The harness is designed to plug directly into the factory adaptor to the left of the emergency brake pedal. I attached a picture below of where it's located so you can verify this is the same one you're referring to.

What kind of trailer are you towing?

I checked with Redarc and there are no custom fit control knob brackets for the 2021 4Runner. They stopped fitting after the 2019 model year.
