Looking for Replacement Coupler for Master Tow 80THD Tow Dolly

I am having trouble with the coupler latch not releasing on my Master-Tow 80THD tow dolly. I like the ease of the Curt Quick Pin coupler but it is only rated at 3500 pounds. What would you recommend to replace as a better quality coupler replacement?

Hey Richard, Is the tongue of your dolly 3 inches wide? If so, the Demco Straight Tongue Coupler part # DM15000-52 would be a great replacement. This has a 10k capacity and a really nice coupler latch system that is easy to use and very reliable. Let me know if you have a different channel width.

Hey Lucas! I measured the Buyers Products Weld-On Receiver Tube #337RT25824B in our warehouse using my digital caliper, and it has an exact outer diameter of 2.54", so I don't believe it will work with your truck's 2-1/2" receiver.…

Hey Bruce, I would go with Grade 8 bolts to install the Demco Straight Tongue Coupler part #DM15000-52. Stainless would be a great choice too but that's not an absolute requirement.

The bolt holes on the Demco coupler #DM15945 are 3" apart on center. I have included a drawing below that shows the dimensions. You can use a 1/2" grade 5 or higher bolt to attach to the tongue of your trailer.
