Replacement Head For B&W 25k Hitch for 2022 Ford F450
Updated 04/07/2026 | Published 03/31/2026 >
Question:
I have the BandW 25K 5th wheel hitch for my 2022 F450. Had this for three years but recently the top part of the hitch got bent and a weld torn. Not sure how but guessing it was from backing into a slightly unlevel camp site. It an not be fixed as I had a welding shop look at it. Is it possible to just purchase the top half of the hitch? The base is perfectly fine.

Hi Rick,
Yes, you can replace just the top half of your B&W Companion 25K hitch with part # BWRVC3006, so you don’t have to replace the entire setup. The replacement head assembly is designed to work with your existing base.
From what you described with the bent head and torn weld, you’re absolutely doing the right thing by replacing it instead of trying to repair it. That top portion carries all the load from the king pin, so once it’s compromised, it’s not something you want to risk.
The new head will drop right onto your current base and reuse your pivot arms and pins, so as long as your base is still in good shape, you’ll be good to go. One thing I would just double check is which version of the Companion you have, whether it’s the OEM puck system or the turnover ball style, just to make sure everything lines up correctly.
Do you happen to know which version you’re running on your F450?

You might try contacting B&W about the hitch failure. There is a chance they would replace it and get yours back to research why it failed. Otherwise the replacement head is a direct fit

Hi Rick, Yes you can. I recently bought a new top due to a camper fell on my hitch. Bent the top part but the bottom was fine. The new one fits perfectly. Happy towing, and safe travels

I purchased the replacement head for my companion slider. Double checked model numbers when I ordered and it was a smooth install on the replacement.

Hi Rick. I had to replace the head of my hitch because it was stolen in Albuquerque. The replacement head fits the base perfectly. Works great.
