Can I Use Retrax XR Rails if I Originally Had The Retrax MX Pro Set Up

Updated 12/16/2025 | Published 12/12/2025

Question:

I currently have a Retrax MX Pro? on my 2015 F150 6.5 bed. Id like to upgrade the rails to the XR rails with slots. Would these RTX59FR rails be a simple replacement in place of the MX rails? Thank you.

Hey, Rob.

That's a really good question. I did a lot of comparing between the instructions and how the cover and canister would attach the it's identical. You should have no issues replacing your old rails with the ones with the t-slots. I see that you were searching for fitments for a 2015 Ford F-150. The original part # RTX39FR you were looking at is going to be rails for a variety of years of GMC Sierra 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 both with 5-3/4 foot beds.

If you need the rails for an F-150 with the short 5ft bed you will want to get part # RTT-82381 instead. If that's not what you need the rails for just let me know in a comment below and I can get the right part number for you.

Thank you, Gwendolyn, for your help. I have a 2015 F150 6.5 ft bed (not 5 ft). Please advise which p/n is applicable, to replace my current mx rails. Thanks again.

@RobR For the 6.5ft bed you would want to get part # RTX49FR Happy Holidays!
