Suspension Enhancement for Thor Four Winds SD35 on 2016 F-550 Chassis

Updated 03/09/2026 | Published 03/06/2026

Question:

I have a Thor Four Winds SD35 motorhome on a 2016 F550 chassis with a 6.7 L diesel engine. I have two questions for recommendations: 1 Sumo spring or Timbren? 2 Which size would I need for front and rear? Any help would be appreciated. Sincerely, Gary

Hey Gary! The answer to your first question is both. I would use the higher rated Timbren SES # TFRSDE in the rear and then the SumoSprings # SSF-111-60 in the front.

With all of the weight in your motorhome the Timbren will do a better job supporting the rear, absorbing road shock, and cutting down on sway. The SumoSprings are still rated pretty high at 4,000 lbs, and they will give you a better ride quality up front compared to the Timbren.

Where are you headed once you get these installed on your Four Winds?
