An example of sag on a vehicle's rear axle under a heavy load

Whether you're hauling heavy loads in your bed or cargo area or you're towing a trailer, you will often see the rear of your vehicle sag while the front end rises. In these cases, the rear axle is handling not only the weight of the cargo, but also more of the vehicle's weight. Because less weight is on the front axle, the front tires are making less contact with the road. Overall handling - traction, steering, and braking - is negatively affected. But the resistance from Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System works with your factory suspension to keep your vehicle level and improve your driving experience.

Diagram of the Timbren spring installed

The Timbren system comes with custom-fit brackets that are bolted onto each frame rail above the rear axle. Hollow rubber springs are bolted to the bottom of the bracket and hang down to where the bottom of the spring sits, 1" above the axle. The inch of clearance allows the existing factory suspension to operate normally under light loads and standard terrain, ensuring the smooth, comfortable ride that you are used to.

Animation of a standard Timbren rubber spring

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems are designed to work progressively. When the hollow rubber springs are compressed, the convoluted design causes them to quickly collapse along the folds. Once the folds are compacted, the stacked barrel shape increases resistance, stiffening the suspension and keeping your vehicle level.

Timbren suspension system works to prevent body roll

Each hollow rubber spring works independently to support the driver's side or passenger's side of your vehicle. This is helpful when you swerve or make sharp turns. Each spring is activated when it is needed, so body roll is greatly reduced. The independent action also works well when you are hauling off-center loads.

An example of a trailers swaying

Because the vehicle handles better with the springs, less turbulence will be passed along to the trailer, and this helps to keep the trailer in line. Your driving comfort is further enhanced if the trailer does begin to sway (from a gust of wind or a passing semi), because the movement from the trailer is not transferred to your vehicle. This also works to make the sway subside more quickly.

An empty truck on a bumpy road without Timbren

Another great feature of the rubber construction is that the springs absorb most of the road shock, creating a smoother, more stable ride overall when loaded. Wear and tear on the factory suspension is also lessened because the rubber springs work to prevent bottoming out on rough roads.

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Compared to the Competition

Timbren's Suspension Enhancement Systems are much easier to install than air springs - there are no air hoses to run, no compressors or gauges to hook up, and no manual adjustments to make. The rubber construction makes Timbren's springs more elastic than similar products constructed of microcellular urethane. And more elasticity allows for a more comfortable ride when loaded or towing because the rubber has more travel.

by:

Very easy to install 30 min. tops. Have not tried them with the trailer yet but I'm sure they will do the trick. Very pleased!

by:

Made a huge difference - not just in load management when hauling 30 sheets of plywood, but greatly improved the handling & ride in my front-wheel drive work van. I just traded in for a newer model van, so I'm getting the same units again!

by:

serve its purpose. just something extra to help with my towing

by:

These look like they will cure the evils of the heavy load God's. Easy to install and they look like they are quite stout. I will find out in a couple of weeks from now.

by:

Hitch fit great and the instructions were easy to follow.

by:

Install was easy. Raised our Thor Gemini up as product said it would. Great job etrailer!

by:

They definitely reduced sway and lean when driving. But also seems like you really feel every bump and increase road noise?
I assume since vibration from axle can now travel directly to frame?
Might need to upgrade shocks?
Might soften liitle over time?
Might need to get softer onesv
Only have gone 80 miles with them so far.
Will give it another few hundred miles and see what feel then.

Overall pretty happy So far.

2017 Thor Gemini TX

had this product before. left it on my old truck when I traded. Now I have to replace it, really like what it does for my towing a travel trailer. just have to find time to put it on. speedy delivery arrived undamaged, which is nice.

by:

Works great on my 2016 town and country for hauling my pop up camper.

by:

Strainer/basket is holding up well after one year of use in our RV, no issues.

by:

Fast delivery. Disappointed with the instructions. Sense the item was ordered vehicle specific. The instructions said tighten bolts to manufactures specifications.

by:

Works great on my Honda odessey !! Great customer service as always!

by:

Very fast shipping, had product in 2 days! Very easy to install. Hardest part was lifting the RV.

by:

The product first arrived in a damaged box with one of the washers missing, but ETrailer did resupply that. The hardest part was finding a shop able (needs the right tools to depress coil springs) and willing (a potential liability issue messing with suspension) to replace it for a reasonable cost. Eventually a local tire shop agreed to. This was for a 2014 Honda Odyssey, especially for pulling a pop-up. Took two camping trips last summer, one before and one after installation, and I have been pleased with the added stiffness in the rear suspension. It made about 1 to 1.5 inch of difference in resting position when fully loaded and towing and has helped smooth out bumps and humps in the road - both when towing and not.

by:

Have not driven yet, just installed. Added Monroe coil-overs as well, thanks etrailer.

by:

Customer service is exceptional and any questions were answered immediately

by:

Delivery was fast, instal was quick & easy. Later today I will see how they work when I hook up to the 5th wheel. By all indications right now I believe they exceed my expectations.

by:

Good product, I’ve attached a couple photos. The last one is a before and after

by:

I put this product on my Trooper. The install was easy is you take the back wheels off. I towed this weekend and I did not bottom out. If they hold up over time, this is a great product.

by:

I would recommend this product to anyone. I pull trailers with a 1/2 ton truck and will never have another one without this product on it.

by:

Price was good compared to other sites. Shipped very fast. Installation was very easy.

by:

Put them on and it is exactly what I need to keep truck level when hauling fifth wheel. Easy to install too

by:

Excellent quality, good prices and great shipping ! Thanks

by:

Fit and functions as described. Installation was simple on my '05 Silverado.

by:

Did my due diligence researching this product, including other customer reviews.
Can't wait to install them, but the Winnebago has been put to sleep for the season. I'll submit a performance report in the spring.

  • Looking for Timbrens for 2023 Entegra Accolade XT 35L
Hey David, since you want a better ride quality the better Timbren option is the part # TFRSDE which is a fit for your 2023 Entegra Accolade XT 35L as it's a better blend of support and ride quality than the Severe Service options. RV looks great though! They sure do make them a lot cooler looking than back in the day.

  • Will Timbrens for 2023 Entegra Accolade XT 35L be Engaged at all Times
Hey David, the Timbren kits like the # TFRSDE that you ordered are designed to have a small gap without a load on the tow vehicle like what you had on your F-350 when it was unloaded and then once loaded they will be engaged or at least touch the axle. So since your Super C is loaded they would be at the very least touching. The exact amount of compression though is hard to say. How does your Entegra handle currently? By the way your camper Jeep and SXS look sick!!

  • Suspension Enhancement for Thor Four Winds SD35 on 2016 F-550 Chassis
Hey Gary! The answer to your first question is both. I would use the higher rated Timbren SES # TFRSDE in the rear and then the SumoSprings # SSF-111-60 in the front. With all of the weight in your motorhome the Timbren will do a better job supporting the rear, absorbing road shock, and cutting down on sway. The SumoSprings are still rated pretty high at 4,000 lbs, and they will give you a better ride quality up front compared to the Timbren. Where are you headed once you get these...

  • Best Suspension Enhancement for 2026 Ford F-550 Dump Truck
Hey Roy, that is quite the truck! Since it is a dump truck you will want the higher capacity from the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System # TFRSDE. This gives you up to 12,000 lbs of additional support to handle those heavy loads and reduce that rear sag you have now so you stay level. Air bags are nice for a standard pickup, but the Timbren SES is the better option here. They will engage right away, and you also don't have to worry about maintenance or adjusting the air pressure. What...

  • Front Suspension Enhancement for Thor Magnitude RS36RV on 2022 Ford F-600 Chassis
Hey Don, welcome back! With all of the weight in the front of the F-600 I would choose the higher capacity Timbren SES # TFF550SDE. SumoSprings are great when you're throwing them on the back of a vehicle and worried about unloaded ride quality. The Timbren SES excels with heavier applications like yours. These will help absorb that road shock and cut down the vibration. As you mentioned, you will also get sway reduction since they act independently and will push back as the vehicle moves...

  • Recommended Suspension Upgrades for a 2022 Thor Omni Motorhome
The Timbren item # TFRSDE you were looking at are confirmed to fit the 2022 Thor Omni motorhome that is built on a 2021 Ford F600 4WD chassis. These have a 12,000 lbs capacity that will provide more load support and stability when you are driving your motorhome. They act as a shock absorber by taking the brunt of bumps and rough roads. There will be no issues using Timbrens in the rear of your motor home and SumoSprings for the front end. For your Thor Omni's front end you will want...

  • 2022 Thor Omni RS36 Motorhome Jounce-Style Suspension Enhancement Recommendation
We do have a specific product like the SumoSprings that fits your 2022 Thor Omni RS36 on the Ford F-600 chassis; the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System for Front # TFF550SDE and Rear # TFRSDE. This installs similarly to the SumoSprings and is simply a different brand - it doesn't look like SuperSprings has a fit for this chassis as of yet (April 2022). This kit replaces your factory bump stops so you'll get better support for your motorhome.

  • Installation of Timbren Springs On A 2016 F-450 With DANA S130 Square Tube Axle
The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TFRSDE is a confirmed fit for your 2016 Ford F-450. The only thing the instructions state is to make sure that the Aeon Spring does not come in contact with the brake line. The springs are designed for and confirmed to fit your vehicle with the brake lines routed in this area with your Dana axle. None of the installations have required moving brake lines but the brake lines do come close. I reached out to my contact at Timbren and they...

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement System for 2017 Ford F-450 with 5th Wheel Hitch
For your 2017 Ford F-450, the Air Lift options as you pointed out are not compatible with a 5th wheel or gooseneck hitch. The manufacturer states that none of their current options for your vehicle will work with the 5th wheel hitch installed although they can work with other vehicle models. My recommendation is to instead go with the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System - Rear Axle # TFRSDE. These aeon rubber springs absorb shock and increase in support as the load increases to give...

  • Suspension Enhancement for 2020 Entegra Odyssey 26D
We have a Timbren solution for the front and rear suspension of your 2020 Entegra Odyssey 26D but we do not have a SumoSpring kit that fits at this time. The Timbrens are a very similar design and would work well to improve suspension support and stability. So for that you'd want the part # TFRSDE for the rear and # TFF550SDH for the front.
