Question:
We camp in Florida and get surprise rain almost every afternoon. If I install the MA96WV, do I have to run outside and close it every time it sprinkles?

Good morning Tony, since the MaxxAir rv roof vent with fan and white lid # MA96WV (also available with smoked lid # MA36WV) is a manual lift model, you would need to close the lid during rain unless you add a vent cover. And you would not need to go outside. It closes by using the knob inside the camper under the vent. It's easy to do.
I think you might be interested in a vent cover for this situation. Installing the white cover # MA00-955001 or smoked cover # MA00-955003 over the vent lets you keep the lid open in light rain while still protecting the fan. It basically gives you all-weather ventilation without stepping up to a rain-sensing model.
If you camp in frequent showers like Florida, I’d strongly consider pairing them.
Are you replacing an existing vent, or adding this as an upgrade during a roof reseal?

That makes sense. Replacing damaged vent. If I add the FanMate cover, does it make the whole setup a lot taller on the roof? I park in a storage building and clearance is already kind of tight.
