Comparing MaxxAir MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent Fan To The MaxxAir MaxxFan Pivoting Fan Roof Vent

Updated 02/26/2026 | Published 02/25/2026

Question:

I’m debating between a fully automatic MaxxFan Deluxe and this manual lift pivoting version for our Class B van conversion. We like simple systems and fewer electronics. Is there a big tradeoff?

Hello Kevin, that’s a great comparison to make.

The Deluxe models like # MA00-07500K are higher output - they move up to around 900 CFM and include powered lift, rain sensing, a built-in thermostat, and more speed settings. They’re designed for maximum airflow and automatic operation and draw double the amperage at 5 amps, which still isn't a crazy amount for most setups.

The pivoting models like # MA36WV (smoke lid) and # MA96WV (white lid) are more about targeted airflow and simplicity. You manually open the lid and physically pivot the fan to control intake or exhaust direction. They move up to 400 CFM and draw only 2.5 amps, which makes them very friendly for van electrical systems or off-grid lower amperage setups.

So it really comes down to this: do you want high-output and automatic features, or directional airflow with fewer electronics to manage and lower power draw?

That helps a lot. We only have 200Ah lithium and 300 watts of solar, so lower draw sounds appealing. We don’t really care about rain sensors.

@Kevin Ok that's a decent setup! The 2.5-amp draw of the pivoting model is definitely not going to be an issue. You'll be able to run longer without having to babysit your battery levels as much. If you do end up installing it yourself, I’d grab the Roof Vent Installation Kit # 344270KITW too - having fresh butyl tape and sealant makes a big difference on preventing leaks after a vent swap.
