Can You Lock Your e-bikes to the Lets Go Aero Jack-E Bike Rack for Electric Bikes?

Updated 02/26/2026 | Published 02/21/2026

Question:

Can you lock the e-bikes to this rack to prevent theft? If so how would that look? What kind of locks and cable would I use or should I just use the Lectric locks I purchased with the bikes?

Hi Jim,

Great question.

Yes, you can definitely lock your e-bikes to the Lets Go Aero Jack-E Bike Rack for Electric Bikes - Trailer Tongue Rack - Preorder # LGA92ZR for added theft protection.

I recommend using a U-lock like the RockyMounts Pivot U-Lock - Hardened Steel - 6-1/2" x 3-1/2" # RKY3502. I would position it around the bike’s frame or wheel and secure it to the main support arm of the rack, basically the solid section that the bike mounts to. I attached a picture with a red rectangle showing exactly where I would place it.

If your e-bikes have long fenders or fat tires that make it tricky to fit a U-lock through, a cable lock works great as well. The Trimax Combination Cable Lock - 10' Long x 5/16" Diameter - Vinyl Coated Braided Steel # TMX42VR is a good option. You would wrap it around the bike frame and through that same solid section of the rack shown in the red rectangle. I like the combination locks because the less keys to lose the better.

If you already purchased the Lectric locks, you can absolutely use them as an added deterrent. For the best protection, I would pair them with a heavier duty U-lock or cable like the options above. That layered approach gives you much better security. With how much e-bikes are you, the more protection the better.

What kind of camper are you putting this rack on? What adventure are you looking most forward to this year?

This may be attached to a car trailer aluminum. It's called a luma trailer if we decide to do this route and we're going to be traveling the US this year. Mostly Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, South Dakota
