Best Rear Suspension Enhancement Kit Recommendation for 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500

Updated 02/23/2026 | Published 02/14/2026

Question:

My son has a 2021 Chevy 2500 Duramax. We are temporarily for a few more years trying to get by with this pickup carrying around his welder full time in the back. Everything is adding about 1500-1600 pounds. We need to add something for weight assist to the springs. I am trying to decide on heavier leaf springs. Your RAS system. Or air ride. Myself in the past I did wireless remote air bags. Was great for a few years then started having trouble with connection. Just curious if you could give me some advice. Thanks Jamie.

Hey Jamie, the Roadactive suspension kit part # RAS3611-HD would be your best option. Of all of the suspension enhancement kits this is my favorite. It gives you adjustable suspension support that's maintenance-free, is easy to install, and unlike other options that mostly hurt ride quality this will improve loaded and unloaded ride quality plus improve handling.

I have purchased theRAS system for my 21 2500 HD Silverado, it was a game changer I towed a 12,000 pound fifth wheel it eliminated the chucking going down the road crossing over bridges easy to install low maintenance one time install haven’t had an issue still on the truck. Highly recommend this product!

Road Active Suspension is better than air ride. Ride quality is great loaded and unloaded!!! They also perform as traction bars for us with high performance trucks who like to smash the throttle every now and then.

Easy to install... Change the drivability while towing trailer with skid steer and equipment. More stable especially in curves.

I have this system installed on my 1999 F250 PowerStroke Super Duty. I pull a 33 ft 5th wheel, and GCVW weight and tongue weight are maxed out. Before I installed the RAS, the alignment of the truck and trailer had the nose of the truck slightly up. I installed the RAS, set it to the higher lift setting, and you could now draw a straight horizontal line from end of the trailer to the nose of the truck, and it's all level. Secondly, it vastly improved the ride of the truck when loaded land and just slightly, very slightly caused a stiffer ride unloaded. I had considered air bags, but took a chance on the RAS after reading negative information on air bags. I'm glad I went with the RAS.

I have a 2005 Nissan Titan LE crew cab 4x4 that I put this kit on to haul a camper I made for the truck. The kit works great my suspension doesn’t sag or feel overloaded since adding the kit works great I completely recommend this kit to improve your suspension and without a total redesign or big hit to the pocket
