RV and boat owners have long relied on Twist Lock style connections for powering their rides. For years, it has been the best option for connecting to shore power. It's been reliable, but most know it's not without disadvantages:
SmartPlug's connector addresses each of these concerns and does all of the heavy lifting.
Locking arms grab the inlet, a clamp inside the plug body holds the cord, the inlet cap snaps to the top while in use, and the integrated seals weatherproof the connection. This helps prevent the wiggly, dirty connections that increase electrical resistance, which creates potentially dangerous heat.
Since it uses a square plug face, SmartPlug is able to use flat pins which create far more surface contact, further reducing the risk of high heat and electrical arcing. The square shape and flat pins also make it easy to plug in - no more twisting or guessing if the pins are lined up correctly.

Install was a little difficult due to my existing cord wiring being opposite of the connections but with patience and a little thought I was able to connect it.
It has worked fine after some initial problems. The set screw was not stamped correctly from the beginning. I could not tighten it down on the wire as the allen wrench would not bite. I called the manufacturer and they wanted me to go through the long warranty process. etrailer fixed it for me.very quickly.
This plug was very easy to install. It is so much better than the twist lock/screw up collar.

better than the stock 50 amp connector. Cutting and fitting 8awg wire was the hardest part to fit into the plug. The rest was easy.

The installation and instructions were straightforward on this plug. Very happy with e-trailer shipping as well. Always on time and the package always looks good when arrives. The trailer you know what you're doing. Definitely keep up the awesome work.
I thought this was rather expensive until I received it. Very well built and so much more solid than the plastic one that came on my 5th wheel. My only complaint is that I wish there were an option for a 90-degree bend so the cord would hang from the plug rather than stick straight out. The weight of the 50AMP cord may cause an issue over time, but we will have to wait and see. My old connector was at 90 degrees, and it appears they offer this in the 30AMP option.

This plug is great. I know that I have good solid contact each time I plug it in. My only complaint would be that I would like a male 90° turn down version to take the strain off plug rather than it sticking straight away out from the female plug base.
