Can I Replace a Kwikee 32 Series Step w/ a Manual Pull Out Step?

Updated 02/18/2026 | Published 02/07/2026

Question:

Hi The motor for my Kwikee step 903209100 motor just went out again. Its there a manual 2 step replacement for this one that fits in the existing space and/ or holes. The step is on a 2008 Itasca Navion. If so, I will go back to manual, it was always reliable on my trailer. Thanks,

Hey Scott. That sucks the motor went out on your Kwikee steps again. There's no way to just bolt up a manual set of steps without replacing your mounting brackets.

To install a set of manual steps, you would need to remove your current brackets and install the Lippert Outriggers for Manual RV Steps item # LC301704. Once you got those brackets setup you could install the Lippert Manual Pull-Out Step for RVs item # LC432682.

If you don't like that option, the Replacement Motor for Kwikee Electric RV Steps item # LC379147 you were looking at, is the correct replacement motor for your Kwikee 32 Series Step pn 903209100.

How long did your most recent replacement motor last? There may be an issue with your ground, the power wiring to your motor, or it just could be working too hard and you need to lube up your gear box and steps.

On my 34 foot travel trailer. The outriggers on the steps broke, I tried repairing them ultimately wound up replacing them with a new set and new steps still didn’t like the installation so I sold the steps and bought the lippert solid step. I highly recommend this. Eliminate a lot of the headaches you’re having with the weak spongy steps that came with the trailer.

@Scott Hey anytime! You're welcome! Take a look at those wiring connections and grease up the gears when you swap out the motor. If you have any questions down the road don't hesitate to reach out!

@JerredHThanks, just got the motor and all looks good. My question; does it matter which position the step is in when I attach them back to the new motor. My steps are currently tied up in the in position so that I could get home without them dragging on the ground. Thanks so much, Scott

@ScottS yes, it does matter. Let the motor cycle first so it finds its home position (usually retracted with the door closed), then match the steps to that same position before reconnecting the linkage. Since yours are already tied up in the “in” position, you should be good, just make sure the motor is also in the retracted position before bolting everything together.
