Replacement Equalizer and Wet Bolts for a Tandem Axle Trailer w/a 7" Wide Equalizer

Updated 02/09/2026 | Published 02/04/2026

Question:

I have a 2024 Pace 7.5 x 16 toyhauler enclosed trailer. I am looking for a equalizer and wet bolt upgrade. Axle center to center is 35, equalizer center to center is 7. Can you assist me please?

Hey Cory, welcome back! The closest equalizer I have to 7" is the Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers item # LC279688. The mounting holes are spaced 7-1/2" apart so it won't be a big enough increase to throw off the geometry of your suspension. These cushioned equalizers are going to do a great job of absorbing road shock, while also reducing chucking to provide a smoother ride.

To upgrade to wet bolts, I recommend the MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers item # MR46ZR for 2-1/4" shackles or item # MR76ZR for 3-1/8" shackles. These kits come with the bronze bushings, wet bolts and shackle straps. To choose the correct kit you'll want to measure one of your current shackle straps from the center of each mounting bolt and then select the kit closest to that distance.

What do you typically haul in your trailer?

I haul a 2000lb Honda utility and have it set up for camping but nothing real heavy. The shackles i have are 2-1/4". Is it better to go 1/2" bigger or 1/2" smaller on equalizer?

@CoryA Those are fun toys. You'll definitely want the MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit item # MR46ZR for 2-1/4" shackles. There's mixed opinions on going with a shorter or longer equalizer if you can't match your size exactly. A shorter equalizer is going to reduce the travel of your suspension. A longer one could hit your frame. The 6-1/2" option would be the MORryde Rubber Equalizers item # MR87ZR which is designed for 33" axle spreads.

@JerredH So looking at the eqaflex, this will work with the dual 3500lb axles?
