Does It Matter If Blue or Yellow Road Armor Equalizers Are Used?

Updated 08/18/2025 | Published 03/18/2023

Question:

On the road armor equalizer one of your comparisons says the blue model is factory and the yellow model is after market. If I am doing an after market upgrade on my keystone cougar mls22 can i use the blue or do I have to use yellow

Lippert has been transitioning from the old school yellow paint to the new blue pain on the Road Armor Equalizers # LC696740 so you'll be getting blue.

With that said color doesn't matter, and instead you need to worry about using the right length for your suspension. The # LC696740 replaces equalizers that measure 6" from center to center of the horizontal mounting holes as you can see in the included diagram.

If you find your existing equalizers are a different length just let me know and we'll get you the correct ones.

There is a $30.00 difference. Just for paint?

@DaveP No the price difference is not based on paint.

Hello, I have a 2009 forest river shockwave t24qr. I want to install lipper road armor suspension my shackle measurement is 2.25. The original black 3 way from center to center hole is 6 1/4 or so. Can you help me locate what I need??

@RyanN Hey Ryan. We no longer have the Lippert Roadarmour equalizers because Lippert has gotten rid of them, however we'll still get you taken care of with a suspension upgrade. Based on your equalizer measurement the closest option we have is MORryde # MR87ZR which is slightly longer at 6-1/2", but is close enough to your 6-1/4" measurement to not have a problem. For shackles you'll want to step up to the # MR46ZR which has the same 2-1/4" length equalizers, but are WAY thicker than your standard shackles so you won't have to worry about them breaking, but have bronze bushings and grease zerks as well to keep from having worn nylon bushings every few years. Two things though, you'll want to be greasing those grease zerks every 6 months at least, and you can point the grease zerks either direction when installing (towards the trailer tire or away from it), I always point the grease zerks under the trailer (away from the tire) that way I can crawl under the trailer and don't have to remove tires to do maintenance.
