Replacement Spring Bars for Fastway e2 WDH

Updated 02/09/2026 | Published 01/29/2026

Question:

I have the fastway e2 weight distribution system with 8000 lb trunion spring bar. I think its over engineered for my setup. If I buy the 6000 lb trunion spring bar can I use the existing 800 trunion socket or do I need to purchase a 600 trunion socket. It looks like the 6000 lb bar would fit. Im assuming trunion I have is for the 8000 spring bar because it says 800 on the side on the trunion socket. Does that mean they make a 600 trunion?

Hi Jim; that does indicate it is for the 800/8,000 lb system. They do make a lower rated trunnion # FA92-02-0644 but you don't have to replace yours with the lower rated component. You can swap out your spring bars for the # FA92-02-0699.

Are you getting a rough, bouncy ride with the existing spring bars?

Yes rough and bouncy on poor highways. My only concern with lower spring bars is my tongue weight is 725lbs but by trailer dry weight is 5,200 lbs. So it seems I need the 800 lb spring bars?

@JimC did you actually weigh it? At 725 lbs the 800 lb bars would be appropriate. Is this happening all the time or do you have situations when you're loaded/unloaded and that weight is varying? Even then, the 400-800 lb range of the spring bars you have now would likely cover everything. Is this system original to you? Someone could have swapped bars already if it isn't. Are you sitting level with the spring bars engaged? It could even be the way the trailer is loaded. What kind of truck do you have?

@RobinH Great questions! I borrowed a friends tongue scale. The trailer comes default with 3 propane tanks. When I weighed the tongue two tanks were full and one empty. After installing new shocks the rear of my F150 sagged a little and had the trailer guy adjust the hitch height. I ended up purchasing a Road Active Suspension system to counter the F150 rear sag. I'm a little uncomfortable now that I know I have a heavy tongue. I'll pause the use of lower Trunion spring bars until I can road test with the RAS. Thanks again for your good insights.
