Hey Sherry! To add a hitch to your 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, I recommend the Blue Ox item # BLU46HR. This custom fit class III hitch has a 2" receiver and will install behind your rear bumper. You'll be able to completely conceal it with the access cover when you're not using the hitch.
The Blue Ox item # BLU46HR has a 7,500 lbs towing capacity and 1,125 lbs maximum tongue weight so it'll be great for towing a trailer or hauling accessories like a bike rack or cargo carrier.
What do you plan on using your new hitch for?

I had a local body shop install mine on a 2025 grand Cherokee l. They were very reasonable in price so did not have to personally install mine. They said the only thing that was any problem at all was doing the wiring which was not bad. It comes in handy with extra carrier room for vacation and works well for towing trailer. It is nice to be able to cover area up when not in use also. Overall it is a good setup and hitch.

I found this hitch fairly easy to install on my 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I removed the bumper and the entire bottom facia, but that is because I had to add trailer wiring. Adding the wiring was the hard part.

You do not have to remove the bumper but there are no instructions showing you how to install the hitch. It took me two days to figure it out. I will check with my friend who helped me and get back to you. I know we had to remove the fender inserts on each side. You also have to use the two smaller bolts you remove from the old hitch insert. The bolts that came with it are too small. It has two large bolts that came with the new hitch. I removed the spare tire holder but don't do this it is a waste of time and doesn't help in anyway.
