Does Draw Tite Hitch 24978 Fit 2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI with Dual Exhaust
Updated 01/18/2026 | Published 01/12/2026 >
Question:
Will this Draw-Tite hitch 24978 fit my 2022 Jetta GLI? It has the dual exhaust setup. Will some trimming of the rear valence be required? I know thr rear valence is different than the 2021 model. Do you also ship to Canada? Postal code T3B5V7. Thanks for your help.

Hey Herb, the Draw Tite hitch part # 24978 that you referenced does for sure fit your 2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI with dual exhaust. There will be some minor rear fascia trimming but this is pretty standard for hitch installs nowadays. We can ship to Canada as well.
Will you be doing any towing?

Herb, Hey I have a 22 GLI with this hitch. Yes it needs to be trimmed about 2”x 2.5” not bad at all. You cannot see the trim unless you lay down and look for it. Reach out if you want pictures or have questions. This was about the 6th hitch I have installed on Jettas and it’s really straight forward. Let me know.

I have this hitch on my '21 Jetta GLI. My Jetta is very late production '21. I am pleased with it. It is very unobtrusive. I did have it professionally installed which I would highly recommend. I have used it to tow a motorcycle trailer. Lou

I was able to perform the installation by myself. There was some trimming of the rear fascia to fit around the receiver of the hitch (cut it 1/4” larger than needed) as I had to remove the fascia a second time to get it to fit.

Yes, this hitch will work for '22 GLI. I installed on my '21 GLI to attach a bike rack and it fits perfectly. The nice thing is that this hitch bolts directly to the bumper/frame and doesn't require any drilling. If you carefully follow instructions for removing the bumper, the entire install can be completed in 1-1.5 hours. The trimming of the bumper underside is the only modification required and it quite easy with an oscillating blade.

Thanks for getting back to me. The hitch will be used mostly for my bike rack. I will occasionally use it with my utility small utility trailer but certainly nothing on the heavy side. I would probably have a shop do the installation for me since it looks like the rear bumper cover needs to be removed and I'm not sure I want to tackle that myself. Herb
