WFCO WF-8955 Power Center In Camper Powers AC And DC Outlets But Batteries Don't Stay Charged

Published 01/08/2026

Question:

My WFCO WF-8955 power center still powers outlets, but the battery won’t stay charged. Is it worth replacing the whole panel with a PM67VR?

Good morning, Aaron! Yes, technically, you can replace just the converter/charger section using a part like the Progressive Dynamics # PD4655V, which is designed to drop into that WFCO power center you have.

That said, when the charging side starts acting up, replacing the entire power center is often the better long-term fix. The PowerMax # PM67VR is a direct replacement for the WFCO WF-8955 and WF-8955-AD and gives you a brand-new converter, fresh DC fuse panel, and reliable AC distribution all in one modern unit - while still fitting the same cutout, so trimming or modification usually isn’t needed.

Patching just the converter section on an older power center can be hit-or-miss, especially if the panel has seen years of heat and vibration. Swapping to the # PM67VR restores stable charging and often clears up related issues like dim lights or batteries that never quite catch up. There's also resistance and heat when you have any bad connections in those panels, which you may not know about.

What kind of batteries are you charging with the WFCO right now?
