Measurement from Center of the Hitch Pin Hole to the First Bike Tray

Updated 01/28/2026 | Published 01/08/2026

Question:

What is the distance between the pin hole and the middle of the first bike platform? I am wondering if this rack will work on a 2025 OVR Navigate travel trailer. There is no bumper, and the hitch is slightly recessed under the end of the trailer.

Hey Clay,

The measurement from center of the hitch pin hole to the first bike tray for the Yakima OnRamp LX Bike Rack # Y88DJ is 16-1/2". The attached photos show where I took the measurement from for reference!

Is that enough clearance to fit your bike on that first tray behind your trailer? If not, and you need a little more clearance, then check out the 8" Curt Hitch Extender # C76DR. Keep in mind, adding a hitch extender will reduce your tongue weight by 50%.

Hey Clay, did the 16-1/2 inch distance from the pin hole give you enough room for the Yakima OnRamp LX on your OVR Navigate trailer? Your results could help others with a similar recessed hitch setup.

@JoshB It would work, but it would require me to loosen and turn my inner bikes handlebars to prevent contact with the back of my travel trailer.

@ClayN Ah, gotcha. It’s tough to find a good fit with the receiver tucked underneath the back of the trailer like yours, especially one that’s rated for a travel trailer. Let me know if any questions come up, I’m happy to help!
