I Am Looking For A Replacement Control Module For My Kwikee 776367 Steps

Updated 01/07/2026 | Published 01/04/2026

Question:

Dear etrailer, I have a “Kwikee Lippert electric step in which the control module has failed. OEM Part 776367 There seems to be much question and confusion regarding the different applications for these modules although many appear and hook up to the electrical components and motor the same. My quest is, why are similar modules on your site in the $100. ranges while others are over $300.? Is there really any differences and what are they in comparison. I do want to get the correct model replacement but they all look similar. Thanks.

Hey Dean,

Based off of your OEM part number the correct replacement control module for your steps is going to be the # LC34AF. These control modules are specific to certain model and SKU steps so it is important to get the exact one for your set of steps. I wish I had an answer as to why some cost more than others. It depends on the model you are replacing, some are for smaller steps that use less power or different gauge wire, some are for steps made before 1999 so there are different reasons to each model.

What kind of motorhome do you have these steps on?

Good afternoon Nick, The coach in question is a 2009 Tiffin Phaeton. I’ve had to replace the module twice for some reason. The step motor continues to work fine in which I’ve also removed the inner worm gear drive assembly and assured it was lubricated properly in the event it was putting to much stress on the module? I’m therefore trying to understand and avoid the continuous issue of module failure and replacement considering the higher component cost for this particular step module. I have contacted “lippert” who has graciously offered a discount for my frequent inconvenience but have now recommended replacing the entire step assembly to a newer model which is another high cost and of course another gamble. Thanks for your replay and information.

@DeanC I can understand that and wanting to get the issue resolved. When you say module failure, are the steps not retracting or extending at all when this happens? Does it work sometimes and other times not? The reason I ask, there may be a separate part from the motor or module all together that are causing this issue. I do not agree with you needing a whole new step assembly, I do think we can narrow it down to what it is.

Good evening Nick, The step motor in question works fine to this point but is unpredictable when or where it will act up. I purchased new door magnets from “eTrailer” a while back thinking it may resolve the issue but the problem has continued. I had since purchased another control module which has worked fine so far, this one being the second replacement module in less than two years. (The count of cycles is unknown?) During failures I have checked the 12 volt battery supply for proper voltage power and grounding supply and all is good there. Generally after a new module has been installed, the step will continue to work perfectly for approximately a year so far until a replacement was needed. As mentioned, I have replaced two so far and would therefore like to purchase another as a spare.

@DeanC The door magnet was going to be my next suggestion as that is something common I see, but it sounds like you beat me to that. The 12V was my next as well. The only other thing I can think of is a possible defective unit, the chances of getting 2 in a row are extremely slim but I have seen it. How long have you had the current one that is still working?
