GPS Tracker For Trailers That Are Store In A Warehouse With Bad GPS Signal

Updated 01/05/2026 | Published 01/02/2026

Question:

Will these still work if my trailer is parked inside a warehouse? signal isn't always great with different frequencies and lots of buildings.

Denise, that’s where WiFi backup really comes in handy. The PingMaster 3000 w/ WiFi Backup # PM84FR and PingMaster 5000 w/ WiFi Backup # PM74FR can report approximate locations using WiFi and cellular triangulation when GPS satellites aren’t reachable indoors. Now they don't actually connect to a WiFi source, but use it to ping off of it.

The PingMaster 5000 # PM64FR can still fall back on cellular towers, but it won’t have the added WiFi layer. If indoor storage is common for you, the WiFi models are the safer choice.

What kind of trailer are you tracking, and is it part of a fleet? PingMaster does offer discounted service options when you’re managing multiple trailers.

That makes sense. This is for multiple enclosed trailers that stay inside a metal warehouse most of the time, and we only move them a few times a month.

@Denise Thanks for clarifying, Denise. In that case, I’d definitely stick with the WiFi backup models so you still get location data even if some of the GPS signal is blocked by the building. Since you’re managing several trailers, it’s also worth asking PingMaster about their fleet service pricing - it can help keep the monthly costs down.
