Question:

We have a 2007 GMC Yukon 5 dr. We have a 2x2inch hitch rated @5000 pounds. What is the best Hitch mounted Cargo Carrier / basket that folds upright for this vehicle. We need this to out last the car. Thanks

The carrier I recommend is the etrailer Cargo Carrier, part # e98874. This is a 24 X 60 inch carrier that will fold when not in use. The distance from the center of the hitch pin to the closest edge of the carrier when folded is 9-1/2 inches, and when folded down it is 19-1/2 inches.

If the cargo you are carrying blocks the tail lights, you will want to install tail lights on the carrier like part # e98943-44LED.

You might also consider Curt Cargo Carrier, part # C18151. This is a 24 x 60 carrier and the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the carrier is 9 inches when folded and 19 when in use.

Although the hitch may have a weight rating of 5,000 lbs, you need to check the owner's manual or with a dealership to find out what the towing and tongue weight capacity for your 2007 GMC Yukon.

You will want to take a couple of measurements to see if the carrier you choose will clear the rear bumper of your Yukon. I have attached a helpful article you can check out that explains how you get that measurement.
