Suspension Upgrade Recommendation for Toy Hauler Taken Off Road
Updated 12/29/2025 | Published 11/29/2025 >
Question:
I have a 2021 forrest river 24rqmx toyhauler. It utilizes PR4 leaf springs under 5100 lb tandem axles. I rent it out regularly to offroad enthusiast and have had the rear leaf spring mounts torn from the frame, the rear leafs snap on a separate occasion and recently a front leaf spring snap. Im looking to upgrade to a suspension that wont break so easily and stand up to the unpaved dirt roads my toyhauler encounters. Possibly the morryde, possibly something else if you have a better suggestion

Hey Michael, the Timbren Axle Less systems like the part # T43AV which is a 5.2k axle setup would be your best solution. These are just a lot tougher than standard trailer suspension which just wasn't designed for off-road whereas the Timbrens definitely had that in mind when they designed them. Do you have a "you break it you buy it policy" at all?

Hey Michael, how did things turn out with the Timbren Axle-Less suspension on your toy hauler? Those are built for rough terrain, so I’m curious if they’ve held up better on the dirt roads. Your experience could help others who use their trailers off-road too.
