Does Lippert Center Point Suspension System Raise Trailer 2 inches

Published 11/24/2025

Question:

Hi, I am looking to purchase a coachman chaparral 218SE 1/2 ton towable 5th wheel. I drive a slightly lifted truck, so I went to a dealer to test my fit. We stacked wood blocks since I did not have a hitch yet. When we put the weight on the bed the bed ped ~1.25, but even with the the trailer was nose high ~4-5in above the rear. The ground was not the most level and I did not have a bubble level to verify. This also was with the king pin contact plate ~15inch above the bed bottom, and the shortest sliding hitch I find is 17inch have a 6.75ft bed. Needless to say, I need to look at lifting the trailer 3 maybe 4 inches to get a good level. The trailer already comes with Lippart equa-flex, and I am looking at installing the Lippert Center Point by Trailair Air-Ride Suspension to gain lift and smoother ride, but I want to confirm the advertised 2inch lift on this kit is applicable when I swap from the equa-flex system? Also if you have other options for lifting the trailer please feel free to share, I am open to ideas. I do plan in combination with the 2inch lift add taller tires to gain another ~1-1.5inch of lift.

Hey Chris, the Lippert Center Point part # LC1565391 does lift the trailer suspension 2 inches like we advertise so it will help but I have to mention that towing a fifth wheel with a lifted truck is just super challenging. It's hard to get a trailer lifted as much as what would be ideal and a lot of the time the lift manufacturers don't really recommend towing. You can only go with tires that are so much taller than what you have and you have to split that additional height gained in half since only half the tire is below the rear axle.

If there's anyway you'd consider removing the lift that is going to be your best solution.

Do you have a fifth wheel hitch picked out already?
