Can these rollers be cut to 8inch length without harming them and if so using what tool?

It is possible to cut down the length of the Dutton-Lainson Boat Trailer Guide-On Roller # DL21554 to suit a particular application. I suggest a hack saw blade as this will have fine teeth that will have less tendency to shred the edges where the cut is to be made. You might also wrap the guide on with paper-based masking tape at the location of your cut to help stabilize that portion to enable a cleaner cut.
