Best Class I Bike Rack for a 65 lbs E-Bike

Updated 12/08/2025 | Published 11/13/2025

Question:

Good afternoon, I installed my Curt 1.25 Class 1 hitch on my Civic yesterday, and now Im looking for a bicycle mount for my ebike and need a recommendation. I have a Velotric Nomad 1 Plus that weighs 65 lbs with the battery removed with 26x4 tires and a wheelbase of ~47 inches and has fenders. Given my class 1 1.25 inch hitch, is there a safe bike mount I can use to transport my ebike?

Hey Cameron, welcome back! Happy to hear you got the Curt item # C92UR installed.

There is one bike rack that is going to work with your class 1 hitch and have the capacity you need without damaging your Nomad's fenders. It is the Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack item # TH903202. This bike rack has a 65 lbs capacity and uses padded rotating clamps to secure your bike. These clamps can be attached to the frame, seat post, or handle bar post.

The EasyFold XT item # TH903202 has a ramp that makes loading your heavy e-bike easier. It can be collapsed and stored inside the actual bike rack. The rack itself weighs only 45 lbs and has wheels built into the base.

Since you have 4" wide tires, you will also need the Fat Bike Straps for Thule EasyFold XT Bike Racks item # TH985101.

Hey Cameron, how did the Thule EasyFold XT work out with your Curt hitch and the Nomad e-bike? It sounds like a solid match for your setup. Your feedback could help others looking to carry a heavier bike on a class 1 hitch.
