Question:
Looking for a pair of tire chains for a 2015 4x4 Tacoma with a slightly bigger tire size than stock - LT265/70/R17. My research has concluded the two most common cost effective options recommend: TC2526 and TC2828 but this seems to be for the stock Tacoma tire size of 265/65/17. Does E-trailer recommend one over the other due to clearance issues for my Tacoma running LT265/70/R17? I am assuming TC2526 is geared towards more paved roads and TC2828 for dirt roads correct?

Hey Chris, thanks for the information. Both the Titan Chain Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link item # TC2526 and the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains - Ladder Pattern - V Bar Links item # TC2828 will work with LT265/70/R17 tires. We've actually installed both sets on Tacoma's before. I linked the installation videos below.
Neither are S Class compatible so you will want to refer to your owner's manual to see if that's a requirement. It shouldn't be.
The Titan Chain Tire Chains item # TC2526 would definitely be recommended for lower clearance situations. These are exclusively designed for use on paved roads and work great in snow. They're not going to do much if anything on ice.
The Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains item # TC2828 are going to give you significantly better traction in deep snow and ice and can be used off road along with on road.
What kind of terrain are you traveling in and how much clearance do you have above your tires and from the inside tire side wall to the closest part of any components on your truck?
You can add this information and any other questions you have where it says Reply to Jerred H and I'll be happy to answer them.

Hi Jerred, so both of these videos are for Tacomas with a smaller tire size than LT265/70/R17 - I'm wondering if e-trailer has installed them on a Tacoma running LT265/70/R17 ? My manual talks about running chains with less than 5.5mm in diameter BUT again this is assuming the factory tire size which is smaller than LT265/70/R17 (think it's P265/65/17). I know to be safe I could run the S-Class compatible version of TC2526, but these seem pretty light duty. I rarely have to use chains but there's some highways and ski areas in BC that require carrying them and if I have to use them, I want a set which will work and hold up - many of these areas are like FSRs roads i.e. gravel/dirt. Anyway let me know your thoughts.
