Are the Dexter 7K ABS brakes plug-and-play with existing Tow Assist wiring?

Yes Jacob - the Dexter 7K ABS assemblies # DX69WR and # DX79WR plug directly into your trailer’s existing Tow Assist harness. You’ll connect the brake power leads and the ABS sensor plug just like the originals.

If your ABS light ever shows amber after install, it means one sensor isn’t being detected - usually just a loose connector or pin. Sometimes means a sensor is bad though and you'd need one from Dexter. Reseat both plugs and it’ll return to green automatically.

Appreciate it, Andrew. I checked my connectors and they look fine, but my light still goes amber after a few miles of towing. Any idea if that could be a sensor starting to fail?

@Jacob That’s possible, Jacob - if everything’s seated tight and the wiring looks good, the amber light coming on mid-trip could indicate a weak or failing wheel sensor. They can get slightly out of alignment over time or pick up metallic debris and show a false/bad reading. Try pulling the plug and giving the sensor a gentle clean, then reseat it and reset the trailer power. If it still trips amber after a few miles, it’s likely time for a new sensor from Dexter. They’re specific to each brake assembly, so make sure you match it to your 7K setup.
