Recommended Cover for a 2026 Ford F-350 w/a Short Bed Pulling a Gooseneck/5th Wheel Trailer

Updated 11/13/2025 | Published 10/16/2025

Question:

Hi. I just got a 26 f350 with a 6 foot bed. I have this cover on my 2022 f450 with 8 foot bed. And it’s great. But when rolled up. And towing a goose neck or fifth wheel. Will it be a better idea to get a retractable cover. Or will this work fine with the 6foot bed

Hey Mike, congrats on the new truck. The only problem I repeatedly see with covers like the BAK Revolver X4s Hard Tonneau Cover item # BAK99ZR is those straps that hold the cover open tend to wear out. The more you drive around with the cover rolled up the quicker they wear out and they can be difficult to track down replacements for. Replacement parts for this style cover aren't the easiest to track down either. If you're upgrading trucks every few years you should be good though.

The BAK item # BAK99ZR going to work the same on your 2026 Ford F-350 short bed as it did on your F-450 long bed.

The retractable tonneau covers are top of the line and definitely the way to go. The manual Pace Edwards item # PE76QJ and the powered item # PE38QJ are both made of aluminum so they're going to last for a long time no matter what environment you're in. The canisters will be right underneath the cover at the front of your bed so they will not interfere with anything. Both of these are confirmed to fit your 2026 Ford F-350 with a 6-3/4' bed.

What kind of 5th wheel hitch do you have?

Hey Mike, how did things work out with the cover on your F-350 when towing your fifth wheel? Your experience could point others toward the best choice between the roll-up and retractable styles.
