Could B and W Inverted Gooseneck Hitch Ball and PullRite ISR Series SuperLite 5th Wheel Hitch Work

Published 10/08/2025

Question:

I see that the BWGNXA4025 is very similar in concept as the PUL53RR hitch from Pullrite, but in an earlier question it was not recommended to use a ball that wasnt welded to the trailer. Can you expound on why not to use the BWGNXA4025 with a bolt on ball setup like the PUL53RR uses? In the below picture my trailer is dead level and my pin box is as high as it will go on the trailer. If I were to install the inverted ball over the kingpin, lower my pin box and use the BandW BWGNXA4025 it would almost fit perfectly. I am not currently considering Reese or Gen Y gooseboxes due to cost but will not tow unsafely. Until I figure this out, I will be nose high with my Demco Recon.

Hey Kevin, are you wanting to use the upper ball section of the Pullrite ISR part # PUL53RR with the B&W Turnoverball Adapter # BWGNXA4025 since you don't have much clearance between the ball and your king pin? That would be an interesting setup and in theory it should work but you would have to have a B and W gooseneck ball in your flat bed truck currently which I'd assume you don't since most of them come with their own gooseneck hitch setups. Either way this would be a really clever solution that I can tell you've put some serious thought into.

I am 100% asking due to space issues between the bed and pin box. Oddly enough my flatbed does have a B&W turnover setup in it. It’s the weld-in system they offer. Thank you for your response, I will be putting this setup together and hopefully be level towing in short order.
