Question:
Can I use the 3" Weigh Safe Pintle Hitch on my Silverado 2500HD with a 2-1/2" receiver?

Don, you won’t be able to use the 3" Weigh Safe hitches (# WS64WR or # WS89WR) in a 2-1/2" receiver - the shank is too large. If you actually have a 3" receiver, you could use a reducer sleeve like the etrailer # e33YR to step down to 2-1/2" and run the # WS97WR. But honestly, if you’ve got a 3" receiver, you’re better off sticking with the 3" version - the # WS64WR (6" drop) or # WS89WR (8" drop) - for a direct fit and maximum strength.
Do you know for sure if your Silverado came with the 2-1/2" or 3" receiver from the factory?
