Is There An Offset Gooseneck Ball For 2017 Ram 2500 With Factory Puck System?

Updated 09/30/2025 | Published 09/25/2025

Question:

Is there an Offset Ball for a Gooseneck Hitch that works in a 2017 crew cab short bed Ram with the puck system? If so would it be safe to use with an aluminum Andersen Ultimate 5th wheel hitch? The Andersen Ultimate is made with a 4” offset so this would give a total offset of 8”

Hello Carl, thanks for reaching out. So we do offer a 4" offset gooseneck ball for the 2017 Ram 2500 puck system, the Curt # C68ZV. The problem is this would not be compatible with the Andersen Ultimate hitch. Also, using a double offset isn't something we typically recommend.

We do have a standard ball, the Curt # C60618 that would be compatible with the Andersen hitch.

Hi Jessie, That’s interesting. I asked about a couple of other offset hitches for my setup and they didn't recommend a Curt with a rocker ball but did recommended a gen y with a 5” offset to go with my Andersen Ultimate. I was a little nervous about the double offset but they assured me it would work. Thank you for your response! Carl

@CarlJ Hey Carl, so I did see that answer Jerred sent you and I just talked to him and several other of my associates about this and we all came to a consensus. There just wouldn't be room to use these parts together. The Andersen hitch sits flat on the bed. The puck brackets for the Curt, or Gen-Y offset balls would sit right underneath the base of the Andersen hitch, so there would be no way to install both. I have seen people use double offset setups it just isn't something I typically recommend. Even if the Andersen could be used with the offset ball, I wouldn't recommend it. Sorry for any confusion.
