Availability of Rear Air Bags for 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

Question:

For 20.17 Hyundai Santa fe..adjustable.rear helper air bags or similar. I have always preferred Firestone air springs but apparently no fit for this car. What choices do you have ?

Hi Doug; I'm sorry to say there are still no custom fit air bags for a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe. You may be able to use the Air Lift 1000 Universal Air Spring Kit like # AL60920 but you will have to measure to see which one might fit.

First, unload your vehicle to make sure it's at normal ride height. Then, measure the inside height of your coil spring, which will be from the upper spring seat to the lower spring seat. Lastly, measure the inside diameter of the spring at its widest point. Once you have these measurements, use the table below to find the correct kit by matching up your diameter and height values. If you search for the kit part number you will be able to find it on our site.

Robin, Thanks for the quick reply to my question about rear helper air bags for our 2017 Santa Fe. I will measure ASAP. Is this a job I can do without a lift ? I do have a floor jack and heavy duty adjustable jack stands. Is there a video of the installation ? Thanks, Doug

@DougS a jack and jack stands will be adequate. We have installation videos further down on this page, not specifically for your vehicle, but it is similar for all vehicles. The written instructions are attached below as well.

Robin, Thanks for the info... I'm not sure I can get under the car without jacking it up but then, that would mess up the spring measurement, would, it not? I'll get back to you on this when I can. This is the full sized '17 Hyundai Santa Fe we're talking about. Some years ago I bought a Curt receiver hitch and wiring kit from you folks and with the video instructions it was easy. So, you consider the Airlift 1000 Universal comparable to the Firestone air bags ? Doug

@DougS it would probably throw it off a bit, if you can't get under there but can reach far enough you could try holding up a tape measure and snapping a picture. That might be too difficult too, not sure for your particular vehicle. If they were the regular 5,000 lb air bags Firestone is definitely better but when it comes to this style Air Lift is comparable.
